i recently picked up a korg electribe es-1 mkII and I'm looking to get a data card for it. they use the long-outdated smartmedia format.

You may need to try inserting the card a couple of times (in either direction, as there are no markings on the reader). It DOES work, and I used the Korg open electribe editor to great success with this."
Is your unit an SD-card model? If so, use your computer to format to FAT32 and then try. The unit not formatting the card is kind of suspicious. If you are using Smart Media, are you using the 3v or 5v version? It may matter, I'm not sure. Have you gone through the process of formatting correctly on the unit? Press Shift+pad16 (CARD).
