So, I went on a limb and purchased the GB USB smart card 64M from kitsch-bent's website. ( http://store.kitsch-bent.com/product/usb-64m-smart-card) I plugged the thing into my computer, and started trying to make my way through the seemingly outdated guides. I like my Bung GBX flash carts better, because they are 64Mb without having to flip between pages by powering the Gameboy on/off really quickly. There is a way to force Windows 8 to run un-signed drivers, but with the smart card's drivers it causes Windows 8 to blue-screen all over the place and restart.
